Carshalton and Wallington Art Group Autumn Exhibition at All Saints Church

On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September, as part of the Open House Weekend celebrations, the Carshalton and Wallington Art Group proudly hosted its Autumn Exhibition at All Saints Church, Carshalton. The ornate and historic church created a reflective and atmospheric backdrop for two afternoons of creativity, community, and artistic appreciation.

Sixteen of our members exhibited their work, with an inspiring range of mediums on display: watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel, pen and wash, graphite, and ink and bleach. Visitors praised the high standard of work and the varied techniques used, from delicate drawing to bold use of colour. Rosie's vibrant acrylic fish paintings in particular drew admiration for their expressive textures and emotional energy.

Throughout the weekend, artists from the group were on hand to invigilate, meet visitors, and share insights into their creative process — helping to build the warm, community-focused spirit that defines our exhibitions.

Favourite Painting Competition

A highlight of the weekend was the popular Favourite Painting Competition, where visitors voted for the artworks that captured their imagination. The winners were:

Looking Ahead

While not every artist sells work at every show, the chance to exhibit remains a vital part of our group's purpose. As our Vice Chairman, Simon Stephens, reflected:

"It's always nice to exhibit your work for people to see — even if we don't sell, it's the taking part and being involved in a cause that matters."

We now look forward to our next major event: the Advent Fair Exhibition at All Saints Church, Carshalton. This festive showcase will begin with a reception on Wednesday 3rd December, followed by public viewings on the 4th, 5th and 6th December (times to be confirmed). The exhibition will also feature work from some of our talented new members.
